Jesse Daly is a Toronto based singer-songwriter currently recording her debut album and playing cover gigs across the city solo and as part of the Jess & Phill Duo.
Her original work has been compared to Neko Case, Jewel, Sarah Slean and Regina Spektor. A blend of alt-rock and cabaret-country, Jesse layers classic and unexpected chord progressions with biting lyrics and intensely personal accounts of growing, loving and failing in a city too easy to drown in.
A typical cover set might find her and duo partner Phill Hood bringing the crowd to it’s feet with Drunk In Love one minute, and the next engaging the entire bar in a full sing-a-long to Country Roads. With Phill’s expert guitar and looping pedal skills, combined with Jesse’s range of stylistic vocals, there are few requests that go unheard. With a set list always growing to meet audience demand and more than a decade of experience each in reading a room, they focus on forgotten favourites, all the classics, and Canadian content. Many crowds find their eclectic range of song choices makes for an always dynamic show.
